What Reddit owners say

3/5

“Personally, and I'm glad I did, got an unused Liquid Brun locally before my decant of Althair shipped. I immediately felt regret cuz my goodness it didn't give me a good first impression of the scent profile. PDM samples came in and I looked at the little bottle of Althair with some distrust lol. Sampled it and the impression of LB came into mind — but, I would do a side-by-side after a month: Points for LB's closeness, projection, but too linear for my liking; I gotta give it to Althair's blend and overall scent phase transitions. Nice list and collection!”

4/5 ValueWinter

“Haha yeah getting myself prepped for the winter. As I said in the OP I'm blind buying it but I really like Althair by PDM so if it's anything like that (which I heard it's close) I'll be happy, especially for the price.”

“I am really into smoky vanilla citrus now, I have Althair but the orange and maybe the cinnamon is throwing me off a little. I have MB black and I like it but I want something with a little more complexity.”

“I bought a 5 ml bottle of Althair just to try and test out, at first I didn't like it, it reminded me of those scented crayola markers. The black one to be specific.”

2/5 Headaches

“I hadn't tried althair and bought this. I thought I liked it, and then after wearing it one morning I wanted to puke. I only sprayed it like 2-3 times and I just couldn't stop smelling it. It's insanely strong and medicinal and made me nauseous. Could never wear it again Then I tried althair and realized I didn't like the scent profile either, but I do think they're pretty close”

3/5 ValueBatches & reformulation

“I know this might be overrated because literally everyone talks about it, but I've owned my fair share of expensive perfumes (the original Althair, 1Million, BDC EDP, Tom Ford TV + FF, the original God of Fire, and many more I don't even remember since I kept most with my brother since he used them more than me) and recently I got back in the game. Afnan's Supremacy CE is a good first buy, but you HAVE to macerate the newer batches for at least a month.”

5/5 ProjectionEveryday

“Interesting, because I love Althair and Dorval. It reminds me of Althairs little brother. Quieter and doesn't project as much, but still a great fragrance that I'd love to wear everyday that isn't too heavy. I struggle with buying a 4.2 oz though. For me I have to wait a bit for the drydown as it changes into a sweeter scent for me that grows on me more and more the longer I wear it.”

“Well, i bought a decant of althair, and after one wearing gave it away. Not my thing. At all. So i have not tried LB, and don't plan to. Not sure what people find appealing about this scent. I guess my nose just perceives it differently.”

5/5 Fall

“ya thats what I hear just good to get it from someone who has both that isn't an influencer. def gonna get brun in the fall. might even get the LE brun too cuz I love the scent profile. I have a decant of althair to compare it to so will be interesting. Apparently they're coming out with a liquid brun l'eau with a clear bottle”

4/5 Value

“Yeah Althair is nice but not for me really, I have others that fill that position that I prefer much more. There are quite a few other clones that I enjoy, that are close but not 1:1, some that I prefer to the originals and some that are close enough to me as I enjoy them but not enough to spend for the full priced original - some I own both the the clone and the original as it helps me stretch out the OG 🤷‍♂️ They have a place in my collection but will never replace the real thing”

“Very strange because i have a sample of althair and a liquid brun bottle, the drydown smells completely identical. It's ridiculous. The only difference i can pick out it that althair is much more smooth in the opening and it's easier to pick out the softer floral notes. Im willing to trade a much less nuanced opening for sparing myself £235”
