What Reddit owners say

2/5 Sweetness

“I went into a Shoppers drug mart here in canada to see if they had a new frag to sniff. (Issey L'eau Essentielle) They didn't (had them for sale but no tester...ofc) so I asked to smell Idole Power since it was in the same cabinet. She said they didn't have that but held up LVEB OG and proceeded to say it smelled kinda the same. I am a really bad people pleaser so I let her spray a test strip so I could smell it and told her it was rather sweet for me (I own it and several flankers lol) just so I could leave. Was so awkward and disappointing”

“I have had my Libre for over 5 years and it is quite a bit darker than when I first got it but still smells right. I used to think the expiration on the label meant something and I threw out my Poison Girl, and deeply regret it. I've known people that have had bottles for over 10 years and still say they smell just like new. I just pulled a 10 year old La Vie Est Belle out of an old purse last weekend, though, and it was half evaporated and not good at all. I think it being a rollerball had something to do with that.”

4/5 SweetnessFall

“I'm liking some of the Lancôme LVEB flankers. I'm not a big fan of the original, but it's growing on me now too. Maybe it's because fall is coming and I think I might like it more in the cooler months. The flankers seem to be lighter though, less sweet and they seem to last for hours, which I like in a fragrance. I'm also a fan of Clinique aromatics flankers. At first spray, I didn't like them but the dry down is beautiful to me.”

“Definitely not a safe blind buy & would recommend getting a sample size if you're interested! At first, I found the it very stale & sharp. And to be honest, it isn't my personal favorite but I think it's other peoples favorite on me. The same way I get complimented on Lancome La Vie Est Belle but I'm not the biggest rose fan.”

“Lancome LVEB Vanille Nude. I think, if I had to make a choice, this would be my signature scent right now. I keep wondering, because it is so dang hot and super humid, when fall gets here and the seasons change, if my scent preferences will change. I have quit a bit of rose perfumes that I loved earlier this year but don't appeal to me now, wondering if that will change. Anyway, back to work!”

“Today I'm wearing La Vie Est Belle Vanilla Nude. It is super humid where I live, very warm and sticky. Yet somehow this perfume feels perfect for today; cozy and a little sexy to me. Happy Monday!”

“The OG Lancôme La Vie Est Belle. I enjoyed it for about a year after it was first introduced and just loved it. I got soooooo many compliments. Now it's just sitting in the back of the cabinet. I need to give it to m my mom but just can't seem to part with it yet.”

“LVEB vanilla is hands down one of my favorite perfumes. It lasts forever, doesn't project them most. And I don't get as many compliments on it as I do some of my others but I'll never stop wearing it. Instantly boosts my mood. I got it one time when Lancôme was having a site wide sale.”

“BBW Forever Cherry Blossom lotion with just two spritzes of La Vie Est Belle Le Elixir EDP. I have my nephews confirmation in two hours and don't want to blast the church wearing something nuclear lol. I haven't gone into a church in ages...pray for me that I don't burst into flames upon entry! :) JK. It's a beautiful day here-happy Sunday all.”

“Did you ever put on a perfume in the morning, even a FAVORITE perfume, and you're like Nope wrong choice. That's me today. Sprayed on Lancome LVEB Soleil Cristal and while I LOVE this perfume, it is so NOT what I'm in the mood for. Sadly, I realised this after I sprayed it on. Now I'm wondering what I can layer over it to either change it or tone it down.”

5/5 Fall

“Ahhhh LVEB L'Elixir has had my heart since day one. It is an absolute love! I have not tried LVEB Very Cherry yet but hope to soon. It's been so dang hot here I haven't wanted to venture out to put my nose on it, and go out only for necessities - work or grocery shopping. 100°+ days also has me scared to order anything that has to be delivered 😞 I'm so ready for fall!”

“Agree with La Vie Est Belle!! Also the Juicy Coutures. The original Viva La Juicy does not last long but the flankers do. Most recently I got VLJ Elixir, VJL Le Bubbly, Just Moi and Just Moi intense. They smell amazing to me!!”

“I tried LVEB Very Cherry recently and it's definitely worth mentioning. I don't love cherry notes typically because they remind me of cough syrup but this is an exceptional exception.”

“Yes I really came around to it in the end, probably wouldn't repurchase but I do like wearing it, it's quite pretty and easy to wear. I feel similarly about La vie est belle- very generic but gets compliments and easy to wear. With LVEB I love smelling it on others, not so much on myself though.”

5/5 Everyday

“Second La Vie Est Belle. Whenever I wear it around friends or family, someone will invariably come up, take a deep inhale & tell me I smell amazing then ask what I'm wearing. So many have told me it needs to become my signature scent (layered over EOS Vanilla Cashmere body wash & oil) that it has become just that!”

“Lancôme La Vie est Belle L'Elixir (has to be L'Elixir) dries down to a sweet Parma violet. I love it, it's delicious! Give it a couple of goes. I hated it the first time I used it and was going to get rid of it. A couple of weeks later I tried it again and really loved it. Not sure if starting the bottle made it develop 🤷🏻‍♀️. But it's gorgeous.”

“If you don't mind a liquour note, both Phlur Cherry Stem and Finery Not Another Cherry both are a candy, cherry fragrance without vanilla or marshmallow. The Phlur scent has a dry down notes of leather as well if that's your kind of thing. But, my biggest disappointment with that one is how short the longevity is. If you want to test some out, I recommend Surrender to Chance. They have several cherry and candy type of fragrances for decant, including the Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Very Cherry. They always pack everything really well and I haven't had any issues with them.”

“I got a sample of La Vie Est Belle Rose Extraordinaire and really like it. I'm not the best at describing things, but it's bold without being offensive or overpowering. It is also not a very powdery rose, which I find nice. It's still available to buy, though I haven't been able to find it at the common retailers. You can get it directly from Lancome and maybe some of the discount fragrance shops online.”

“Lancome makes the longest lasting scents that I've tried. Also very feminine. I'd recommend LVEB Vanille Nude to start. Very light, lasts a long time on skin and forever on clothes. Very feminine.  Allure EDP lasts a long time on me, personally.”

“Vanilla Aura. I got a decant of this and girlll…rich auntie vibes and it's delicious. Honestly was more impressed with Vanilla Aura than Vanille Planifolia, which I found underwhelming (but in all fairness, expectations were high). Projects more and lasts. Otherwise excited to try the new LVEB flanker! I own L'Elixir and love it. ❤️”

2/5 WinterFall

“No, I too fell down the GLP-1 rabbit hole of craving sweets that only fragrance could satiate. I've always leaned more toward florals. Luckily I don't have an addictive personality, so I did sample and only made a few poor blind-buys. I really thought LVEB would be my signature fragrance, but…. I. Just. Can't. We'll revisit that in the fall or winter. Meanwhile: Yum Boujee bleh! Angham bleh!! Tobacco Honey bleh!!!”

“Not OP, but I love vanilla and have been eyeing this one, but I'm sort of spooked out by La Vie Est Belle because I hate iris and powder smells, and the OG is a powder bomb on me. Does Vanille Nude still have the LVEB powderiness going on? I've read good things, but it being a LVEB flanker makes me nervous.”

“I like vanilla but don't care for a lot of vanilla-heavy frags (Kayali's vanilla frags come to mind), since they tend to end up smelling like straight up vanilla extract on me. Lol Nice, subtle sweetness is what I prefer. These are my recs: LVEB Vanille Nude Ariana Grande's Vanilla Suede”

“Fresh perfumes and EDTs tend to go bad. Vanilla perfumes smell better overtime. I have an 8 yr old la vie est belle and the sharp heavy opening is gone. It's much softer and more edible now.”

“I ordered some samples that are out my comfort zone. First wear of the day was givenchy l'interdit rouge - this cemented my knowledge that white florals are not for me. 2nd try: La vie est belle vanilla nude - it's ok, but too “perfumey” if that makes sense. Smells like the mall to me. Not offensive though.”

“I don't really love heavier scents. I have LA Vie Est Belle and while it smells nice, I don't like that you can smell me when I enter a room when I wear it. It's too much. I've considered wearing the Goddess for the trip, but wanted some other ideas from people who know more than me!”
